Responsible for providing process and product design inputs during the development and launch of new products for purchased products based on supplier capabilities and core competencies. Actively drives cost reduction, quality improvements, and innovation in new products through partnership with R&D, Advanced Operations (AO) and suppliers within the new product development process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Quality First oPartner with Advanced Operations in the Make vs. Buy process to ensure the optimal manufacturing process and location is selected to provide highest quality at the lowest cost. oBuild the bridge between Stryker and supplier technical personnel to ensure Design for Manufacturability/Assembly considerations are incorporated into new products. •Customer Experience oSupport Operations build plan goals through assurance of supply after new product launch by performing capability analysis of suppliers prior to making sourcing decisions. oSupport Strategic Sourcing goals by providing input on manufacturing systems, production controls, validation systems, capacity, and manufacturing cost at suppliers. oPartner with Advanced Operations to support R&D and Marketing team goals by providing innovative solutions, attaining project timeline milestones, and executing flawless new product launch at suppliers. •Financial Results oMinimize new product cost by simplifying the supply chain, optimizing product design (DFM/DFA), and improving operational efficiency and purchasing processes. oDevelop supplier should cost models in order to inform the Make vs. Buy process and sourcing decisions. •Innovation oInvestigate, analyze and develop new suppliers to bring a world class medical device supply base to the organization. oPartner with suppliers and Advanced Operations to ensure the latest technological innovations are available to be incorporated into our product and process designs. •People Development oBuild relationships within Stryker by becoming a value-added and sought after resource. oBuild trusting relationships with suppliers to facilitate partnerships and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications/Work Experience
• Broad and in-depth knowledge of good manufacturing practices and industry standards • Previous experience with a variety of manufacturing processes • Must be able to travel as needed to support development activities at suppliers, up to 30% • Must possess excellent presentation and communication skills
Education and/or Special Training
•Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related curriculum •5 years experience in process development, supplier development, or related discipline
