The Charge Nurse will serve as the clinical leader on the unit and will be responsible for coordinating nursing care for patients on assigned unit. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Effectively provides age appropriate care. These dimensions incorporate the competencies defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
The Charge Nurse classification shall be held by a benefitted Nurse and paid a wage scale that is 6% above the Staff Nurse II wage Scale (per current CNA contract).
Education/Licensure:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in State of California
Certification in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, (based on unit specific needs); certification in specialty preferred
Experience:
Minimum 2 years recent acute care RN experience in the same or a similar unit.
Previous charge nurse experience and/or 2 years relevant leadership experience preferred.

Ability to determine most effective use of resources to achieve unit fiscal and patient care quality goals
