UI Writer
Overview The UI Writer is responsible for overseeing content requirements and providing copy deliverables (instructional copy, field labels, help copy, error messages, and the occasional branding message) across the project lifecycle. Collaborating closely with the Interaction Designer and the Visual Designer, as well as people from our Functional Design and Creative Services groups, you will be critical to defining the copy on our web site.
Responsibilities
Develop content strategy based on business objectives and user needs.
Work with design and development team to translate requirements and business goals into messaging, site navigation, labels and content organization on the user interface. Write information deliverables (instructional copy, error messages, interface copy, help copy) relevant to each project.
Work with Marketing and Creative Services to meet the editorial tone, style and voice of all content.
Work with legal team to make sure site copy is reviewed and approved.
Review the QA environment and work with QA team to resolve bugs related to incorrectly implemented copy.
Work within and continue to develop the style guide and editorial procedures.
Ensure content conforms to Search Engine Optimization best practices.
Requirements:
Soft Skills
Thorough understanding of how to communicate effectively in a digital environment.
Ability to translate use cases and conditional logic into accurate messaging.
Expert level attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, as you will be working with Interaction Designers, Visual Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers.
Ability to deliver clear, succinct, and information driven copy, as well as creative branding copy (keep in mind this is not a marketing copywriter position).
Technical Skills
2-4 years experience in creating/writing content for Web or other digital media.
Degree in related field, such as English, journalism, technical writing, or library science.
Advanced proficiency in the MS Office Suite, and working knowledge of design tools such as Visio .
Highly Desirable
Transaction writing experience.
Experience in the online travel industry.
Ideal candidate will be an 85% content writer and 15% technical writer (roughly).
